Eat @ Pop Up Dining KL

This was a while back ago when I had my first Pop Up Dining (kind of supperclub) experience. I thought it was quite cool and want to share it here. Pop Up Dining KL is run by few aspiring chefs, they do not own a place so they basically pop from one venue to another. They usually pop at cafes, the recent ones at Lorem Ipsum, Sevencups, Project Space and Jaslyn Cakes being the regular spot. Anyways, this one that I had was at a private house at Bangsar.

Tasting Menu

Let's see what sort of food they serve, shall we? First was snack on  stone. Love love the presentation. From left to right, rice crackers, truffle mousse on toast and yam fritters.

The first entree was a sunny side up egg with aerated white, grilled king mushroom, cauliflower and cream of mushroom. This was pretty pleasant, nothing too strong. A good entree to kick off the next course.

Moving on was salmon, asparagus, filo, brioche, nori and black olive soil. This was my most favourite dish from the whole tasting menu. When they served, the raw salmon was actually placed on a small hot stone heated up to 175C and it got cooked within seconds. Brioche was crispy and buttery and the black olive soil complemented the salmon and nori pretty well.

The last entree which was the main course was chicken (roulade, mousse and balls), cucumber, nasturtium, cucumber jelly and chicken jus. This was okay. The chicken was a little dry however the overall taste was pretty awesome.

Dessert time!!!~~ Brown butter cake, carrot, sweet potato and chocolate. I personally think that the carrot was not an ideal match however, again this was an interesting flavour combination that I never had before.

Lastly, to end the meal, we had rose tea with chocolate and marshmallow.

I did enjoy my pop up dining experience very much. Really it's all about good food, good company over a good conversation.
