Cooking Class in Siem Reap (Cambodia)

I joined this cooking class during my holiday in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I thought it's a good experience to share.

It was a 3-hour class and we learned to cook 3 local dishes - Fish Amok, Khmer Mango Salad and Sticky Rice Balls with Palm Sugar. We were first introduced to the local ingredients by touring around the farm just beside the place where we learned cooking.

Then, we were introduced to our Chef.

Each person had their own station, equipped with cooking tools and ingredients.

We started off with Fish Amok since it needs time to prepare and cook. Fish Amok is a kind of South East Asian curry dish with coconut milk and local herbs such as galangal, lemongrass and turmeric. Traditionally, the thick coconut curry and fish is cooked by steaming it inside banana leaves. But in the class, we use a sauce pan to cook. It is a more liquid type of Fish Amok.

Then, we make our Mango Salad and lastly make the Sticky Rice Balls.

And, ta-da... these are the final products which ate for our lunch.
